More from the wonderful world of Ada
So, Ada’s daycare called for her to be picked up yesterday when she started getting a fever of 102. She’s not supposed to return to daycare for 24 hours after she gets a fever, so that means she has to stay home today as well. Since I watched her Monday and Mel watched her Tuesday, then it’s my turn to stay home with her again today. I love spending time playing with Ada, but sometimes its a little difficult when she is grumpy from being sick. It makes me appreciate the little things, such as when people say “please” and “thank you”. Of course Ada can’t say those things, and her usual way of telling you that she needs something is by crying or whining. So, you just have to remind yourself that she does appreciate being taken care of, that she just can’t say it. We will definitely be saying “thank you” a lot to Sherry when she starts watching Ada during the days.
I did get a chance to take her to the doctor right after picking her up from daycare yesterday. He said that she now has a ear infection to go along with her pink eye. This is the third ear infection in three months and he said if she develops another one soon, he will be referring us to a ear, nose, and throat doctor to possibly talk about solutions such as Ear Tubes. While I think it would be nice to stop the repeated illnesses, I hope it doesn’t get that serious.
I Get Funky Like Diaper Rash And nah
So my weekend with Ada has been extended a day. Yesterday she started getting a runny nose and had a lot of gunk in her eye. By the end of the day she was a little feverish and pretty grumpy. So, I took her to the doctor this morning and she was diagnosed with pink eye. Poor little angel was almost burning up when I laid her down for a nap a bit ago. Her last day at daycare will be April 7th. Hopefully she won’t catch any more bugs before then.
I’ve got the D double O D double O style, Here we go again because it’s been awhile
I have been having an enjoyable weekend with Ada. We had some playtime this morning and then ran a bunch of errands which included a stroller ride downtown. Ada is finally starting to hold her own bottle to feed herself, although she is a little messy when she does it. Ada just had one heck of a dirty diaper and I think we both are a little tuckered out so naptime will probably be coming soon.
Googleoploy
More strange stuff from Google. Google Finance just popped up a few days ago. It seems interesting, I wonder if it will be more than just stock quotes and news clippings…
I also saw Google Page Creator a few weeks ago. I had to wait for my login to be activated for it. I’m interested to find out what Google wants to do in the “free homepage” market…
On a downside, I’ve been getting lots of false positives on my gmail spam filter. That is to say, lots of e-mail from my friends, family, and e-mail lists has been bypassing my inbox and ending up in the spam bucket. I’m having to start going through my spam folder every day to make sure that I hadn’t missed anything. I’ve started setting up my own filters to try to help auto-delete most stuff that I’m pretty sure that I don’t want to read (so if you send me an email with a few four letter words in the subject, I probably will never see it). I think google is trying though since they put in gmail address aliases to help control spam.
DCICCC Visit
Yesterday we had our fist visit from the DCICCC counselor. She showed us some playtime exercises that we could go through with Ada that would encourage Ada to use her leg muscles more. These exercises included putting Ada on the floor so that she is lying on her tummy and putting a toy or item of interest to her side so that Ada would push up with her arms and move her legs to put her in the sitting position. The other exercises consisted of Ada sitting on our legs or on a box and holding an item out in front of her so that when she reaches for it, she will be leaning forward with feet touching the ground then forced to use her feet to support herself.
Playtime didn’t last too long before Ada became tired and a little grumpy, but I think it was a good start. Mel and I will continue to work with Ada and then the counselor will visit her again at daycare next week. So far working with the DCICCC has been pretty nice and they have been helpful and accommodating.
